The project “Developing innovative plant-based added-value food products through the promotion of local Mediterranean nut and legume crops” (henceforth PULPING – PRIMA) is formed by a consortium of twenty international entities: Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB), Collaborative Laboratory Mountains of Research (MORE), Decorgel – Produtos Alimentares S.A. (DECORGEL), Centre de Recherche Scientifique et Technique en Analyses Physico- Chimiques (CRAPC), Leibniz-Institut für Agrartechnik und Bioökonomie e.V. (ATB), Benha University (BU), University of Thessaly (UTH), Greek Fresh Vegetables IKE (GFV), Biotechnology center of Borj cedria (CBBC). This consortium emerged from the will to stimulate and improve the sustainable valuation of pumpkin in African and European countries in an integrated and waste-free manner, using innovative processing and preservation technologies.
The Pulping project is expected to generate an entire value chain, from nature to safe food products/ingredients, improving incomes, creating jobs and promoting local economies in the Mediterranean region.
The protection of privacy and personal data is a priority for project PULPING – PRIMA and a clear commitment made by us. We value your privacy and respect the confidentiality of the personal data you have provided and/or will provide in the future.
This policy concerns the privacy practices in the scope of the activity carried out under the project PULPING – PRIMA, including portals, websites and other services managed in this area. The personal data provided to us during the interaction with the various services will be treated with the guarantees of security and confidentiality required by the legal framework regarding the protection of personal data, more guaranteeing the exercise of your rights in relation to these data, under the terms of the Law of Personal Data Protection in force.
The services, portals and websites under the responsibility of project PULPING – PRIMA may contain links to other sites under the responsibility of third parties. The project’s privacy policy applies exclusively to the websites and services under its responsibility. When accessing websites of other entities, even from the websites under the responsibility of project PULPING – PRIMA, you should read the respective privacy policies.
The access and use of services, portals and websites, under the responsibility of PULPING – PRIMA, must be free on the part of the user and the PULPING – PRIMA project assumes that it has read, understood and accepted the Terms and Conditions of its use.
Any attempts to alter the information, or any other action that may cause damage and jeopardize the integrity of the system, are strictly prohibited under current legislation. The user is obliged to scrupulously comply with the applicable legislation, namely, in terms of computer crime and intellectual property rights, being exclusively responsible for the violation of these regulations.
Responsible for processing
MORE – Collaborative Laboratory Mountains of Research is the entity responsible for the processing of all personal data that are provided under the PULPING – PRIMA project, taking into account the nature, scope, context and purposes of the data processing, as well as the risks to the rights and freedoms of natural persons, in accordance with the GDPR.
Typology of the treated data
The personal data subjected to processing by the PULPING – PRIMA project are of a diverse nature in view of the provision of services promoted on electronic platforms and other services under its management.
Depending on the type of services provided, the following can be collected: IP address; name; age; tax identification number; civil identification number; social security number; identification document number; address; email address; and mobile phone number.
Data processing
The processing of personal data and special categories of personal data consists of an operation or a set of operations carried out on personal data or sets of personal data through automated means, or not, namely the collection, registration, organization, structuring, conservation, adaptation, recovery, consultation, use, dissemination, diffusion, comparison, interconnection, limitation, erasure, or destruction.
The processing of personal data is governed by the principles of lawfulness, loyalty, and transparency, in strict respect for the privacy reserve, rights, freedoms and fundamental guarantees of its holders.
In this context, project PULPING – PRIMA undertakes to keep the collected data confidential, according to the state of available technology, confidentializing the information processed by this means and additionally adopting the necessary measures, within its reach, to avoid its loss, misdirection, or improper manipulation.
In no case will the collected data be used for any purpose other than that for which consent was given by the data subject or the condition of legitimacy of the processing.
Security of personal data
The PULPING – PRIMA project, in the pursuit of its activities and the provision of its services, uses a set of technologies and security procedures appropriate to the protection of your personal data, protecting unauthorized access or disclosure, namely:
Physical security measures, such as the control of access by employees, collaborators and visitors to the headquarters facilities and, over the data Center facilities, very restricted mechanisms to fight intrusion, fire extinguishing, equipment monitoring and equipment accommodation in dedicated backstage;
Logical security measures, in the component of access to systems and workstations through authentication mechanisms and privileges; in the network component, the use of firewalls and intrusion detection systems, segregating networks and application environments, as well as information encryption through secure communication channels.
However, it is your responsibility to guarantee and ensure that the computer you are using is adequately protected against harmful software, computer viruses and worms
However, it should be noted that whenever data collection is carried out on open networks, such as the Internet, your data may circulate without security conditions, with the risk of being seen and used by unauthorized third parties.
Who has access to the personal data
MORE – Collaborative Laboratory Mountains of Research is the entity responsible for processing the personal data of users of the services and website related to the PULPING – PRIMA project. However, this data can be collected and/or used by partners, namely technological partners, and others. To this extent, MORE makes sure that its partners are subject to confidentiality obligations regarding these data, which are no less rigid than those of the project itself.
When establishing relationships with external service providers, these entities are required to act in accordance with our internal data confidentiality and security policies when processing user data.
In the case of storing or transferring data to a service provider based outside the European economic area, we take the necessary measures to ensure that your personal data is properly safeguarded.
As a rule, the project does not share user’s personal data with third parties with whom it has not established a contractual relationship that provides for the confidential treatment of this data in accordance with this privacy statement. Whenever the sharing of the remaining data takes place (e.g. usage data), the user will be previously informed, being sent the identity of the recipients and the purpose of processing the data provided, so that the user can decide whether or not to accept sharing.
The PULPING – PRIMA project may communicate your personal data to third parties provided that, for this purpose, it has unequivocally obtained the consent of the users referred to in the previous point or even when: (a) the transmission is carried out within the scope of compliance with a legal obligation, a resolution by the National Data Protection Commission or a court order, or (b) the communication is carried out to protect the vital interests of users or any other legitimate purpose provided for by law.
Purposes and grounds for the processing of personal data
Personal data will only be processed with a view to a set of determined purposes, also considering a set of legal bases for this treatment, among which are included:
Pursuit of the goals and purposes of the PULPING – PRIMA project;
Compliance with current legislation and all other legal requirements;
Legal duties of conservation and integrity of documentation;
Pre-contractual diligence;
Fulfilment of contracts to which PULPING – PRIMA project is a party;
Fulfilment of projects from which the PULPING – PRIMA project is beneficiary;
Reporting and auditing of projects and activities financed by public resources;
Compliance with quality certifications;
Control and registration of the use of facilities and equipment;
Safety and integrity of facilities and equipment;
Subscription to newsletters;
Intervention as a subcontractor, according to the definition provided for in point 8 of Article 4 of the GDPR.
How long do we keep your information
The PULPING – PRIMA project may retain personal data for as long as it may be required some type of responsibility derived from a legal relationship, the execution of a contract or the application of pre-contractual measures, and always in accordance with the law, guidelines and decisions of the National Data Protection Commission, or, as applicable, until the data subject exercises his right of opposition, right to be forgotten or withdraw consent.
Whenever there is no specific legal requirement, data will be stored and preserved only for the period necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected and processed or for the period of time authorized by the Control Authority, after which it will be deleted.
The PULPING – PRIMA project, in the context of processing for the purposes of public interest archiving, or for the purpose of scientific or historical research, or for statistical purposes, may retain the data for longer periods, without prejudice to applying the appropriate guarantees, pursuant to legislation in force, for the rights and freedoms of the data subject. These guarantees imply the adoption of technical and organizational measures aimed at ensuring, in particular, the respect of the principle of data minimization.
Data subject’s rights
The data subject has the right, at all times and free of charge, to request, in writing, to the Consortium:
Access to your personal data;
The rectification or correction of your personal data;
The deletion of your data (without prejudice to the provisions on the period of data retention);
The limitation of the processing of your personal data (idem);
Opposition to the processing of your data;
The portability of your data to the entity indicated by you, although it is personal data stored in electronic support.
In all cases, if there is a legally imposed rule or obligation that overrides these rights, the Consortium reserves the right not to execute the request (or this request is subject to restrictions or conditions, if and when applicable), always and in all cases indicating the respective grounds to the interested holder.
The holder of the personal data may submit any complaint to the National Data Protection Commission (www.cnpd.pt), as a Control Authority in Portugal, as defined in numbers 21 and 22 of article 4 and in article 51 of the GDPR.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
The PULPING – PRIMA project uses cookies and other similar technologies on its websites to improve the performance and browsing experience of its users, increasing, on the one hand, the speed and efficiency of response and, on the other, eliminating the need to repeatedly introduce the same information.
The placement of cookies helps electronic sites to recognize the user’s device on the next visit and is often essential for its operation.
The cookies used do not collect personal information that makes it possible to identify the User, only keeping generic information, namely the form or region / city of access, among others.

The PULPING – PRIMA project cannot be held responsible for any losses or damages arising from civil liability (including, but not limited to, emergent damages, lost profits and moral damages, caused directly or indirectly), arising as a result of the correct or incorrect use of its services, websites and respective contents by the user, including improper access to the user’s computer and computer system by third parties.
